Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.*
We can’t always understand spiritual things the way we learn to understand a lot of things in life. We learn to understand math (maybe), or how to drive a car (took me a while), or even how to communicate with our friends and family. We learn formulas and strategies and systems, and we learn to understand based on what we see and what is clearly evident to our senses and logic.
God doesn’t always ask us to understand, but He always asks us to believe. That being said, I think He wants to give us wisdom and understanding. (colossians 1:9)
“Faith” is my way of learning to see and understand spiritual things in a world that doesn’t always seem so spiritual. Faith is substance and it is evidence. Faith is concrete.
